BIO

Seth Warren-Crow is a percussionist and sound designer based in Lubbock, TX. He is an assistant professor in the School of Theatre and Dance at Texas Tech University. Seth received a MFA in Electronic Music and Recording Media from Mills College in California, where he received the Frog Peak Award for Experimental Music. Challenging any clear distinction between music and noise, nature and artifice, Seth’s sound for live performance often combines field recordings, samples from film and other media, and voice to create intricate and uncanny electro-acoustic soundscapes. Seth has done theatrical sound design for Hamlet (West Texas A&M); La Bohème (Milwaukee Ballet); A Wrinkle in Time (First Stage Children’s Theater); Love Stories (Ballet Quad Cities); and several designs for Theatre Gigante including My Dear Othello (Greensboro, NC & Milwaukee, WI) and Three Other Sisters (which toured Slovenia during the fall of 2012). At Texas Tech he has designed sound for productions of The Women of Troy, Avenue Q, Twelfth Night, Mother Courage and Her Children, The Pinsky Project (original work), Arcadia, In the Next Room, or The Vibrator Play, and Flatlands Dance Theater’s Everything Is Under Pressure. In 2014, Seth was a musical accompanist for dance technique classes at the prestigious American Dance Festival (ADF) in Durham, NC.

He also collaborates with performance artist Heather Warren-Crow. As
warren-crow+warren-crow, they have exhibited at the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space, the Porsgrunn International Theatre Festival in Norway, Compliance Division in Portland (OR), Counterpath Gallery in Denver, Diapason gallery and Glasshouse Art-Life-Lab in Brooklyn, Hungryman gallery in Chicago, Iron Gate Studios in Austin, and the Soundwalk Festival in Long Beach. In 2007, warrencrow+warrencrow were artists/researchers-in-residence at the International Center for the History of Electronic Games.
