BIO
Seth Warren-Crow is a sound artist, sound designer, composer, percussionist, and teacher. Seth composes music locally and nationally for dance and theater performances and is the Musical Director for the Department of Dance at The University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. Seth has composed music and designed sound for dance performances in California, Illinois, Iowa, Washington DC, Connecticut, and Wisconsin. In Milwaukee he has done sound design and composition for Danceworks and Wild Space dance companies as well as The University of Wisconsin. He has also worked in Milwaukee as a theatrical sound designer for First Stage Children’s Theater, Theater Gigante, and Youngblood Theater Company. Seth regularly collaborates with performance artist Heather Warren-Crow as warren-crow+warren-crow who have exhibited their work at galleries in Long Beach CA (Soundwalk sound art festival), Chicago IL (Hungryman Gallery, NEXT Art Fair), Brooklyn NY (Diapason Gallery), and Austin TX (Iron Gate Studios) and in 2007 were artists in residence at the International Center for the History of Electronic Games in Rochester, NY. Seth’s music combines found sound, field recording, voice, text, and sound synthesis to create intricate and uncanny electro-acoustic pieces. Seth received a BA in English and Religious Studies from Lawrence University in Appleton, WI and a MFA in Electronic Music and Recording Media from Mills College in Oakland, California, where he was given the Frog Peak Award for Experimental Music. Seth has taught courses in the Film Department and is Musical Director in the Dance Department at UW-Milwaukee where he teaches courses in sound art, music, and digital media. He also teaches drum set and hand percussion lessons (including Indian tabla) privately.
